The national telephone survey, which was conducted from June 12 to 16, found that 72 percent of those questioned supported a government-administered insurance plan — something like Medicare for those under 65 — that would compete for customers with private insurers.

This is no longer controversial. Calls that free public insurance for all is socialist or that it will put a bureaucrat between people and their doctors no longer work. The word “socialism” doesn’t scare anyone anymore (because we know it’s just a scare tactic) and people already have insurance company bureaucrats holding up way more procedures than the government would.
